Data

Physical assurance is crucial for trusted electronic systems. Automation using AI and ML is now increasingly favored over manual inspection. However, extensive data from various modalities such as X-ray, SEM, THz, acoustic, optical, thermal, and sample preparation is required for developing advanced algorithms. Collecting data requires costly equipment found in limited labs. Therefore, these shared resources can engage the community in this area and help automating and enhancing electronics inspection and assurance processes.

To enhance the development of trusted electronic systems,PhysicalDB has been established as a centralized repository for crucial datasets, spanning modalities such as X-ray, SEM, and others. This initiative aims to democratize access to vital data, overcoming challenges related to the cost and availability of advanced equipment. By offering a platform for shared resources, PhysicalDB encourages community collaboration and innovation in the automation and enhancement of electronics inspection.

Army Outreach Session – PAINE 2023

Session chair: Dr. Erin Gawron-Hyla
 DEVCOM Army Research Laboratory

This session is open to undergraduate and graduate students to learn more about Army research and careers. The session will include a presentation and discussion on example pathways to becoming an Army researcher and benefits of being an Army/DoD employee, as well as current Army research priorities and internship opportunities for students. There will be time for Q&A with Army scientists and engineers and an opportunity for networking.
